Bio 

Yvette Dede is from New Orleans, LA and moved to Charleston, SC, in 1991.  Her artistic efforts include collaborative sculpture installations throughout the U.S. and in the Czech Republic.  She and Japanese artist Hiroko Inoue were the 2007 collaborative artists for the Artist Residency Program at the South Carolina Botanical Gardens.  In 1994, she and her collaborators Phyllis Constransitch and Robben McAdam,  were awarded the Installation/ Collaboration Project Grant, from the North Carolina Cultural Council and the Alternate Visions Grant, from Alternate Roots of Atlanta.  In addition to site works, Dede draws. In 2021, the Medical University of South Carolina purchased three drawings for their permanent collection through the Arts in Healing program.  She was an Artist in Resident for the Gibbes Museum, August - December, 2017. Her drawing installations were included in the South Carolina Artist Triennial 2001 and 2004, the invitational group exhibit, Artificiton of the Battle of New Orleans 2015, Studio Inferno, New Orleans, LA.  Other drawings were included in Arts Field, Lake City, 2014, and the Bound exhibit at the Phoenix Gallery in NY, and the 43rd and 47th Drawing and Small Sculpture Show 2009, 2013. Dede teaches drawing at the College of Charleston.  She received her M.F.A. from Vermont College of Fine Arts, Montpelier, VT, and her B.F.A from LSU Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
